New ACEO - last trip to the beach
The weather here is amazing! It's still pleasant to go walk along the beach without bundling up - although the swimming season is past.

New ACEO - kumihimo
Here's something that I tried a long time ago, but wasn't very good at. Of course at the time I didn't bother to get the proper equipment and that really makes the difference. I'm of a mind to try again. The stand itself can be bought online (even on ebay) but can be expensive - so I'd make my own. It's really only two pieces of wood attached together with dowels.

New ACEO - mooncakes!
Here's a Chinese version of the Japanese "Tsukimi" I painted recently. The tradition originally came to Japan from China. Every year our local grocery store sells huge boxes of these mooncakes, and I've always wanted to try them so bad. But they're very expensive and I never want to shell out the cash for something I just want to try - $20 is a lot to pay for a box of beanpaste buns that only I will eat and probably not finish!

New ACEO - geisha with bat pattern kimono and obi
Japan the bat is a symbol of happiness, but it seems an appropriate thing to do coming up to October. Of course, you don't see many bat pattern kimonos today - this ensemble would date to the Edo era. Click to bid!!
