Here's a shiba inu - a breed of Japanese dog - dressed as an onnagata, a kabuki actor that portrays women, in this case a courtesan. Whew!

New artwork
I should have had this up yesterday, but the video card in my computer died thursday and didn't get fixed until last night. This is a geisha in a yukata, Edo style of course. I think the colors are really pretty.

Kitty sashimi chef
I'm thrilled with the way this one turned out. I think it's a perfect blend between ukiyoe and my style. Everything worked for me on this one - the colors are perfect, the cat's face turned out really pretty and the fish and octopus are sooo cute. I had so much fun drawing and painting this.

Sketchin'
wow, my little sashimi chef kitty turned out fantastic! You'll see it tomorrow. ^_^
In the meanwhile, here's a new aceo I sketched out tonight.

On the agenda today...
On friday, I finally inked my larger piece (it's 9x12). I HATE the inking stage, because my hands always shake a tiny bit, and if I screw up on the kimono collars and hems I go crazy. For some reason though on friday my hands were really steady and inking this was a piece of cake. I still have to in the kimono patterns, but I'm really happy with this since all of my straight lines are straight, and all of my parallel lines are perfectly parallel, with no jogs or wobblies. Yesterday I started on a new aceo, isn't it cute? I love the little octopus! Anyway, I know what I'll be doing today, besides taking frequent breaks to check the progress of my beans and carrots in the garden. They all poked out yesterday.
